A.L.M. الم

A + L + M = 8945 + 6493 + 4436 = 19,874 = 19 x 1046

The letters “A” (ا = Alif) “L” (ل = Lam) and “M” (م = Mim) are the most frequently used letters in the Arabic language, and in the same order as we see in the Quranic Initials — “A,” then “L,” then “M.” These letters prefix six suras — 2, 3, 29, 30, 31, and 32 — and the total occurrence of the three letters in each of the six suras is a multiple of 19 [9899 (19x521), 5662 (19x 298), 1672 (19x88), 1254 (19x66), 817 (19x43), and 570 (19x30), respectively]. Thus, the total occurrence of the three letters in the six suras is 19874 (19x 1046), and the alteration of one of these letters destroys this phenomenon.

*Note: The counts above are replicated from the work by Dr. Rashad Khalifa. These counts vary from what is presented in the section for Sura 30, such that the text contains one less Alif and one more Lam than what is represented above. More information about this can be found here.
