# Kitab

The Quran references itself throughout the text using different names. One of these names is al-kitab ( ٱلكتب ) which means book or scripture. This indicates that one of the facets of the Quran was that it was intended to be written from the start of the revelation.

> \[2:2] This **scripture** is infallible; a beacon for the righteous;
>
> &#x20;ذَٰلِكَ **ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ** لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
