# No Bismillah

The Quran has 114 Suras. Every Sura starts with the statement Bismillah, except for Sura 9, which is the only Sura not to start with this statement.

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Some claim that Sura 9 doesn’t start with this statement because it is meant to be harsh, except there are other Suras that are even more condemning and still start with this statement. For example, Sura 111: Thorns (Al-Masad) is about condemning Abee Lahab and his wife, yet Sura 111 still starts with Bismillah.
