Faith or Works

[Romans 3:28] For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

Paul denies human beings are made righteous by good works (Romans 3:21-4:12)

James 2: 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him? 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Martin Luther proposed to remove James from the Bible because he contradicted Paul. (John Burton, History of the Bible, p. 10)
